Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Zambia, James Hitchins is inspired by wildlife and quiet moments along the Zambezi River. James uses art as a means of experimental expression, presenting subjects in a black and white medium that brings these pieces to life in unexpected ways. Unlike hyperrealism, where the object is often accentuated with vivid colours to enhance vibrancy, James’ work delicately mediates between using a play of light with white charcoal and graphite. This technique invites viewers to interpret the imagery, adding their own nuances of colour, light and movement.

James is donating 25% from the sale of his two drawings to support the K9 Unit. If you would like to buy either drawing, please email James at jameshitchinsart@gmail.com.
